What’s life like?

The trip to London and being stuck in the airport was a very inspiring mark in my week. Specially because I decided to reorganize my business once more and separate my personal brand from my actual teaching brand. I have too many hobbies and things I like posting and I am afraid I’ll confuse my followers. So whomever what’s to follow me follows me, and whomever wants portuguese, gets portuguese. So between design, creating the socials and keeping the same level of work, there’s not much left to my energy levels. So what did I do? You guessed it… Coffee, again. At this point I truly believe I could be a good partner to Nespresso. And no, they do not promote me :(.

Grammar Stories

I’m not someone who likes to go over grammar that often. I believe we just need a few things to gat started and then the rest we learn as we speak and interact. But, this is one of the things that is a core pillar of the learning, of any language, and in this case Portuguese. And that is the structure.

We follow this structure:

So essentially we do: person + action/ verb + numbers + thing/person + description.

I normally tell my students that portuguese need to think about how many things, what things and then describe it. We can’t describe what we don’t know or see.

Now simplifying we’ll go:

Now, you might feel tempted to start putting words together and try to make a sense after this. DON’T! It’s like portuguese is telling you it would like a water and you are already trying to feed it a whole meal during the date. One thing at a time.

Once you get this, the next step is learning this formula: "

Estar + a + infinitive

But I'll write about it next week. I understand your excitement with learning and you want to know everything and start talking, but as in dating, there are certain things we cannot rush to make it work. Same thing with languages! So let’s be patient and do things well at 1st try.

Casa Portuguese & Students

This week I’m moving the A level course into the new platform and we are all going to stop jumping around like monkeys between platforms. Yay! What someone said about Casa Portuguesa:
