Vamos começar pelo porquê do caos: os meus amigos costumam dizer que eu tenho sempre mil coisas a acontecer ao mesmo tempo. Eu até concordo… mas posso dizer que é um caos… controlado.

E o porquê do café? É o meu combustível no dia a dia — como professora e como humana.

Na realidade, esta ideia começou com uma dinâmica engraçada.

Eu comprei uma refeição numa app chamada Too Good To Go (basicamente, através desta app, os restaurantes podem vender o que sobrou do almoço/jantar a um preço mais baixo). Um amigo meu pediu-me para eu tirar uma foto da caixa e fazer um review da comida em português, para ele poder praticar e aprender coisas novas.

E eu, numa onda de inspiração, pensei:

“E se eu fizesse isto no meu Substack para outras pessoas?”

Assim, não só vocês iam conhecendo um bocadinho da cultura, os meus hábitos estranhos e outras coisas potencialmente interessantes… como também podiam aprender português através destas pequenas situações mundanas pelas quais todos passamos.

Porque, no fundo, o objetivo é este: vocês falarem como nós, nativos. Certo?

Além disso, eu quero melhorar a minha escrita. E quero também falar dos meus hobbies — ou, no mínimo, arranjar uma desculpa elegante para justificar o facto de eu ter vários hobbies e achar que todos têm de ser úteis.

Eu tenho ADHD, ou seja: sou péssima a criar hábitos. E tenho também esta estranha obsessão de que tudo o que eu faço tem de ter um objetivo… caso contrário, não faz sentido eu fazer. Portanto, não há nada melhor do que pôr um propósito maior nisto, envolver mais gente e transformar este novo hobby numa série que eu realmente continue a desenvolver.

Aproveitem bem esta série, porque pode ter muita coisa útil em termos de vocabulário — talvez não de conteúdo… mas isso é outra história.

E eu vou ficar à espera das vossas perguntas do género:

“Porque é que dizes isto e não aquilo?”

Eu pessoalmente ADORO estas perguntas, porque algumas eu sei responder… e outras nem por isso. Então acabo por aprender também.

PS: têm a versão em inglês em baixo. Se precisarem de outra língua, digam. Eu também preciso de treinar as minhas outras línguas por escrito…

Let’s start with the chaos part: my friends often say I always have a million things going on at the same time. And honestly… I agree. But I can say it’s chaos… controlled chaos.

And why coffee? It’s my fuel — in everyday life, as a teacher and as a human being.

Actually, this idea started in a funny way.

I bought a meal using an app called Too Good To Go (basically, restaurants can sell leftover lunch/dinner food at a lower price). A friend of mine asked me to take a photo of the box and write a short food review in Portuguese, so he could practice Portuguese and learn new things. (I also have a degree in Gastronomy and I worked as a chef for 5 years.)

And in a moment of inspiration I thought:

“What if I did this on my Substack for other people too?”

That way, not only would you get to know a bit about Portuguese culture, my weird habits, and other potentially interesting things… but you could also learn Portuguese through these small everyday situations we all go through.

Because at the end of the day, the goal is this: for you to speak like us natives. Right?

Plus, I want to improve my writing — and I also want to talk about my hobbies, or at least find a good excuse to justify why my many hobbies should be considered “useful”. I have ADHD, which means I’m not great at building habits… and I have this strange obsession that everything I do needs to have a purpose. Otherwise it doesn’t make sense to me.

So there’s nothing better than giving this series a bigger purpose, involving more people, and turning this new hobby into a project I actually keep developing.

Enjoy this series, because it may have lots of useful vocabulary — maybe not always lots of “content”… but that’s another story.

And I’ll be waiting for your questions like:

“Why do you say this and not that?”

I personally LOVE those questions — because some I can answer… and some I can’t. So I end up learning too.
